New 16 GB iPhone and 32GB iPod Touch models, double capacity
February 5th, 2008 | by Justin Nolan |With immediate availability, today Apple has announced the launch of new iPhone and iPod Touch models. The only change is to capacity. The iPhone is now available in a 16GB configuration for $499, and the iPod Touch is now available with 32GB for the same $499. The 8GB iPhone and Touch and 16GB Touch remain unaffected in price and availability.
Will these new models influence future purchasing decisions for you? $499, or a “half G” as some might call it, is entering pricey waters. Especially when you consider it’s still only a fraction of the capacity of the cheaper iPod Classic. I’m personally more than happy with 8GB (for now). But that’s mainly because I use it more as a PDA than an iPod. 10 years ago I was only dreaming about a PDA with 8GB storage.
