iPod touch 1.1.3 App Enabler [UPDATED]

January 25th, 2008 | by Justin Nolan |

Have a jailbroken 1.1.3? The iPhone apps are locked away in the firmware. Install the App Enabler to unlock them:

1. Add http://www.modiphone.net/repo to your Installer.app sources list. Refresh sources.
2. Install 1.1.3 Touch Apps under Modiphone.net

Please note that there is ZERO copyrighted code in this package. All we are doing is replacing the app’s Info.plist files with our own. Uninstalling will revert back to the default plists.

Note: MobileMail may or may not show up on your SpringBoard with this version. Please report back in the comments.

This scene just works too fast for me! While I was working to improve this method, a SpringBoard patch was released to enable all 1.1.3 App Pack features. Unfortunately it’s much more complex and involves copying files to and from your Touch, patching a file in terminal, and repairing permission via ssh. It should be a breeze for most veteran users, but it’s not as simple as a one click patch via Installer. Unfortunately that’s out of the question for now, as there is now way to do this over Installer without distributing copyrighted code. If someone compiles sdelta3 for iPhone/Touch, I can promise a simple Installer patch will follow. Until then, grab the SpringBoard patch and manual instructions here.

(Thanks Stefan)

Great job! MobileMail is not showing up (yet, I assume ;). Also, at some point after the jailbreak I lost the Brightness Preference pane (the option shows up in Preferences but when you select it the screen is blank)

Great job. mail isnt showing up for me either.

Fixed the Preferences problem by copying Preferences.app over from the 1.1.3 image. My guess is that Extended Preferences got confused by 1.1.3.

    MobileMail doesn’t show up. :-(
    Any solution already?

Also, the icon wiggling & rearranging doesn’t work.

And: tapping on a contac’s address in the addressbook app doesn’t take me to the Google Maps app anymore. :-( Can you confirm?

Brightness pref pane working fine here.

Stefan, there seems to be a problem with this method.

Try the old method, which can be found here: http://ipodtoucher.wordpress.com/2008/01/24/apps-how-to-get-the-app-pack-5-iphone-apps-lyrics-wiggle-icons-and-maps-location-and-pin-point-free-on-ipod-touch/

no mail for me either… apps moving/wiggling doesnt seem to work…

    brightness works fine for me….

contacts doesnt work either…. also on maps.. i cant “find myself” although i dont think this would work with the touch anyways.. as its a cell tower based feature….

maccrap, as Steve explained in his keynote speech, the “locate me” feature does not only use the cell towers but known wifi hotspots, too.
However, that’ll only work in the US and Canada yet. And with those hotspots this company (forgot the name, AirConnect?) Steve mentioned already “geocoded”.
    ;-)

Yeah. Everything works now very well. Including the wiggling and Mail and all. :)

The Springboard binary inside the Springboard.app has to be patched.

    Here’s the thread: http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29516

Either download the patch and apply it yourself using the sdelta3 binary (it’s inside the jb113.dmg) or download the patched Springboard binary from the above mentioned thread and copy it into the Springboard.app folder replacing the original. (I renamed the original before to save it.)

Don’t forget to chmod +x Springboard after copying!

    Reboot and you’re fine. :-)

looks like mail isnt working correctly saving my password after patching the springboard binary. i’ve installed the 1.1.3 jailbreak on a clean ipod touch without any previous installations of mobilemail and the 1.1.3 version is not getting me any mail because of a missing password. (pop3, servers and passwords are correct, ssl and ports also checked)

To fix the mail password issue, from ssh or mobile-terminal:

    cd /var/root
    /bin/chmod -R og+rw *

thx. is also possible with adding sleepers.net/iphonerepo to source and installing the 1.1.3 mailfix.

I’m supporting this idea all the way! I can not imagine who would disagree with it. On the whole - make posts like this more often.
