[Guide] Downgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 the easy way

January 21st, 2008 | by Justin Nolan |

So you just couldn’t resist checking out what news in 1.1.3. Right about now you’re probably missing all your customizations the third party apps. Downgrading is simple, but unfortunately the phone portion of your iPhone will be unusable due to the baseband update in 1.1.3. Touch users can of course go back and forth at will.

1. Connect your iPhone/Touch to your computer via USB.
2. Hold down both the Home and Sleep buttons.
3. When the screen turns off, release the Sleep button (continue holding the Home button).
4. When the screen turns back on, release the Home button.
5. A popup in iTunes will tell you it found your device in restore mode. Click OK.
6. Option-Click (Mac) or Shift-Click (Win) the restore button, and select your 1.1.1 image. Let it do it’s thing!

If you need the 1.1.1 image, you can download it directly from Apple here: iPhone 1.1.1 Restore / iPod Touch 1.1.1 Restore

I tried to downgrade and iBrickr would not recognize it after the error (1) popped up. Other websites just said to continue on and use iBrickr but it never finished the search for my iPhone. I tried to go back to 1.1.3 and it went back to the “slide for emergency” screen. My phone has been rendered useless now. I cannot go back and restore it, either. Using this same method it does not show up in iTunes.

I tried to do the downgrade for an iphone 1.1.2 that I upgraded to 1.1.3 and it let me do all the installation via this web site http://www.hackthatphone.com/113/iphone_downgrade_113.html and when i run ibrick and then I run the app installer and break the safari and reboot my iphone it says your iphone is in 1.0.2 and needs to be restore via ithunes and then it shows me incorrect sim or invalid sim and Im using and at&t sim card and doesnt recognize it, and obviusly Im stuck in this point and I have to either restore to my last restore wich is 1.1.3 or not being able to activate it, I tried to connect to itunes but it says please insert valid sim to activate iphone I really need help on this. if you want to see where I got stuck go to the page 2 of the link above and I got stuck at the last image instead of showing me in the liberate wallpaper it showed me the world picture but with the hideous incorrect sim card
