Firmware 1.1.4 released, ZiPhone support coming soon

Firmware 1.1.4 has been released, but you may want to hold off on upgrading if you are jailbroken. ZiPhone reportedly works, but Zibree warns further testing is needed, and adjustments need to be made. The firmware update appears to just be bug fixes, so you aren’t missing out on anything super cool.

    To Whom It May Concern:

    I ran ZiPhone v2.6b on a 16GB iPhone (unfortunately do not know the exact version of the firmware because I can not access the phone at all now). I did “Do it All!” and it seemed to work fine – I was able to put my wife’s SIM card in the phone. She was able to send/receive calls/SMSes as well as access internet (via wifi in the house) and emails – both gmail and yahoo.

    However, this morning when we tried to sync it with itunes (ver 7.6.0.29) everything went wrong. Sometime the iphone would not even be recognized – at other times itunes looked like it was going to sync (I saw and outlook sync process working in the background) but then it just stopped. I tried running the “Jailbreak” option and starting getting the error message:

    BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

    One suggestion was to keep hitting the “Jailbreak” option to try and get past this error – did not work. I tried ot restore the iphone to factory settings on itunes but that failed. Then I tried to start over by running ziphone –D – did not work. Then I tried Full Hardware DFU – did not work. ;-( it seems to be somehow stuck on a firmware that keeps coming up with this error message. I am not the most technical guy in the world – so not sure where to go from here. Is there a way to do hard reset on the phone to the original firmware and start again?

    PS – I have tried to donate a couple of times on paypal and getting errors.

    Here’s the solution Rich:

    Connect the ipod touch / iphone to your computer, even though it cannot be recognized.
    Hold the power button and the home button on your ipod touch / iphone for about 10 -15 seconds. Your ipod touch/iphone might restart or the screen may even turn green but its normal. Keep holding it untill you see an itunes icon. Once you see that, go to i tunes and you’ll get a message saying that your ipod touch / iphone is in recovery mode and you must restore it before the iphone/ ipod get dissconnected. Click ok, and then click restore.

    ok max, you my friend are a champion if i could hug you i would, this has fixed my ipod touch completely im so happy :) so wat actually caused it to go strange in the first place?

    Hi Max i did all of the steps and then the apple logo appeared and after that the white letters appeared again what can i do?
